Default Original country/folk song

Sometimes ya' just gotta record a sappy song...

I cobbled this together over the weekend. The lyrics are about the bittersweet issues of visiting aging parents. It's a bit retro country/rock/folk. If anyone feels like adding a more competent piano or vocal let me know.

Also gave me chance to try recording my new Breedlove acoustic (great guitar!).

jm - really very nice piece of work here overall. What was your chain for the lead guitar sound?

I have to say - this doesn't strike me at all as a country/folk tune. I get a very strong late 60's British ballad jam session vibe. Kind of like Blind Faith meets the Beatles and Stones. Don't sell yourself short on either the vox or piano. I love the singing and the change in texture as you change range for harmonies - again, very live jam session captured feel to it. Piano could be tightened up a bit, but too much tighter and fancier wouldn't fit. Great melody and overall tune.

Thanks! The lead guitar is a Strat run through my POD (rotary/Leslie effect; small Fender amp emulation), and then direct to REAPER through my input box (Echo Audiofire).

Funny - I'd been re-listening to a lot of Stones after reading Keith Richards autobiography, and I always liked their Gram Parsons influenced stuff - so maybe that was seeping through.

Nice
Yeah, the vocal is good, be sure not to hide it in too much reverb and effects
Acoustic drums? You playing? Not bad

Actually the drums are EZ Drummer (with lots of tweaks to the Groove Monkey loops). But that's good if they sound acoustic. There's a few subtle changes to tempo to make it sound less mechanical also.
