Default Reaper and the ancient CM Labs Motormix

So, I've recently stumbled upon a working condition Motormix, and have zero idea how to go about getting it to work with Reaper, or if it's even possible.

It's obviously meant for pro tools (oooooold pro tools, at that), but due to budget constraints I'd love to get it working as a control surface with as much functionality as I can summon.

I believe the HUI protocol is what I'm looking for? But I have very little knowledge regarding any midi based control surfaces, as all that I've used before are laden with drivers and usb.

Does anybody have any experience using this beautiful old beast with a Reaper as a control surface? Any info on how I can, or why I can't would be awesome, and a learning experience!

Hi,

The hui csurf.DLL that comes with reaper can handle the basics...mute solo, faders, banks.

Installation of control surfaces is covered in the reaper manual, but go to options/preferences/control surfaces..that should get you started.

To go further than what the stock hui csurf offers..ie plug in control etc. would require converting the hui protocol to MCP...Mackie control protocol. Can be done...I did it...but its not plug and play.
That piece of hardware is built like a brick shoot house ain't it?
