Default I've graduated (finally)!

After 9.5 years of total time spent in college, I have finally finished my Masters degree, yesterday, Oct 2nd 2015. Woohoo!

Now I can continue unburdened with my life.

Just wanted to share this with all of you folks here. There.

Congrats, ED. If that was in the US you'd spent the rest of your life paying off those student loans.

Congrats Mario! Good thing to add to your resume, and it might help if you ever decide to come States side with your skills.

Congrats!

Do we call you Master Evil now, or do you prefer Evil Master?

Thinking about it, mag. is called Magister in Germany (and prolly elsewhere?) which has this nice wizardry touch to it that fits quite well with your nick, too...

Superb Accomplishment !!

Know the experience .... sure would have been easier straight thru from H.S. rather than full time job, kiddies, etc.

Dunno, maybe makes it appreciated more ??

Congrats!
p.s. Appreciate lots of help here and NI Communities, couple others, all thru this .....

Congratulations!

Of course this is one important step in a lifetime of learning, both formal and informal.

At 70 I'm somewhere near the other end of the journey and my attitude will always be:-

*** NEVER STOP LEARNING ***

It's not just a means to an end, it's an end in itself.

Can you tell I was in education? I taught engineering for 35 years.

Awesome! And Much Congratulations! It took me a mere 7 1/2 years to get mine.

Now, I'm wishing I could have chosen the 10 or 20-year plan! Really miss being a perpetual university student. One of the best eras or decades of my life.

Care to say what your degree(s) are in, what field, or did I miss that above? [edit] Nevermind -- re-read and found it. Computers: good field.

Congratulations!

My memory of graduating is dominated by a feeling not too unlike what it must be to be the film reel when all the film has gone through the projector, still spinning and slapping uselessly against the machine...

Might be because I graduated in philosophy.

Best regards,
Lars

Nope, I have no further interest for college. Plus, I noticed in the last couple of years I just couldn't force myself to study and focus properly, especially if the subject was something that wasn't even remotely interesting to me (and we all know there are such courses on every college)... I wouldn't last on the postgraduate studies.

Thanks!

And haha, what an amazing analogy!

Ed, speaking of which ... any idea what part of computerworld you are thinking of? The money is fabulous in cybersleuthing and security. That one sounds quite interesting, what with all the news recently.

Or are you thinking of more design-oriented fields?

Well, currently I get by just fine by doing Kontakt scripting. It's a twofer because I love doing it, so it doesn't even feel like working to me...

I'm thinking I'm going to continue doing this for as long as possible. After that, we'll see. I don't know yet - but I do know I need to have a backup plan. Perhaps by then I'll have my own home recording studio set up, then I could produce local bands and so on...

So, in short, while I do have a comp sci degree now, I'm more interested in pursuing music-related things if at all possible. The degree is just a very solid fallback.
