Default #TBT "Lucien"

Wow, just found this on an old disc. Must be 25 years old. Cassette to begin with, hence the fabulous hiss. I'm the songwriter, Kristina Riegert the vocalist, and Håkan Folkesson arranged, performed and produced. We had very high hopes for this one. The rec biz people hated it.

My tribute to the beat writers.

Great tune!
Maybe too much early 80's to please the record guys. I assume it's early 90's.

Yeah, 1992-3 something. Too late, perhaps. Grunge had just hit the scene. I wanted it to sound like new wave, think Blondie, or something in a similar style.

From the same period, with the same people:

I wrote the song and played the acoustic. Some kind of country-ish ballad.

Singers got a really nice voice and nailed "Don't Waste My Love" pretty good but "Lucien" has too many pitchy moments to impress record execs imo. If you've still got the original recording with the vocal on its own track then it would be fairly easy to fix with a good basic pitch correction vst like Reatune. The track might even get some airplay as a cool retro number then.
Good fingerpickin on the ballad, good song, well done, cheers.

Definitely Blondie. Definitely good.
Definitely shows that 'record' companies are a bunch of corporate fuckwits who wouldn't know a good tune if it kicked them in the nuts.

Thank you guys. Yes, Lucien is a little pitchy here and there. I do believe I have the mastertapes somewhere.
