Shipbuilding (cover)
Just a very simple arrangement to see if I could pull this off live.
Also to get a bit more familiar with amplitube's automation.

Excellent minimalist version of one of my favourite songs Spike.
You voice really suits it. Love the guitar tones
You can pull this off live I'm sure
On a slightly related note, I was thinking of doing a version of Veronica.
Elvis is a marmite artist isn't he
Well old boy

Hear, hear. I love hearing stripped down arrangements of quality tunes. I do a slow, finger picked version of Veronica that I really dig.

Most excellent, Spike.
All sounds are just fantastic. Brilliant atmosphere and space. Such a sparse mix really lets you be able to take advantage of the full frequency of the guitar tracks. Love the low end on the guitars. Great tone.
Ace vocals too. They really suit the song.
Excellent rendition.

Hey, thanks guys
Yes Ted, Elvis is well marmite! I would love to hear that Veronica, and yours dug dog.
You are right Kev, it is nice to do minimalist stuff where you get to not carve away away at the sounds you have lovingly crafted.

Nice one Spike, always was one of my favourite songs.
Great arrangement and recording except that I slightly lost your voice around one fiftyish --- just needs a tweak in the mix.
Lovely stuff.

A really good version. The guitar sounds very rich. What amp did you use in Amplitube?
I agree that the voice gets a bit lost in the region of 1:50'ish, where the guitar gets more crunchy. But the crunchy guitar adds to the drama, so it would be good to keep that dynamic, without overpowering the vocal so much - if that's possible.
I've always liked the 'down the earth' human quality of Robert Wyatt's version of this song. You've captured a similar raw feel.

Nice.
Could use a little careful manual de-essing of the vox in the beginning. I also think the guItar comes in a little too hot or strong at 1:40. Either pull it back a little or it needs a cut where the vocal is, or maybe sidechain it from the vocal.
Nice recording man.

Hi Spike, nice job on this song !!
I will just echo what others have said RE: the vocals being lost a little when the gritty guiatr comes in.
I'm sure you'll do fine at the gig
Cheers

Spike - Very gutsy arrangement, and you pulled it off aplomb! I'd echo the other's mix comments if I'm being subjective. But, it works very well as is IMHO. A long-time Elvis fan here, and I don't know how I missed this. So, thanks also for the introduction!
Kyle

Thanks Lawrence! I knew there was something I forgot. I had Spitfish on the vox but took it off because it wasn't working. I'll go back and automate those esses.

Cheers Pete. 59 Bassman with trem and diode overdrive pedals.
The OD has no gain on it but just warms it up.

congrats Spike, your cover of one of my favourite pieces of music ever is just brilliant...
we used to play Veronica and So Like Candy as well.
Aside of any tech suggestion (I actually couldnt give you any), I like the minimal approach to the song, a very difficult task that requires a perfect vocal performance which you did for sure.
Wait for a "barber shop" version of veronica, thou ;-)
