Default What is wrong with this music file?

This is the first recording I have done in an experiment to see how it all works out.

I have eventually managed to find a server that will upload my file for me
It is a combined track of a karaoke song called "Cast- walk away" and my singing recorded over the top of it.
For some reason my singing has not recorded properly, it just fades in and out, I am standing next to the microphone I am not moving about or anything.
Anyone knows why please?

I am singed up and it is free
If you saw my other posting you will have noticed that soundclowd will not allow me to upload anything

If I can not find a decent server to host my .mp3 files then I am going to have to knock this whole project on the head

Yeah - when I go to that link I'm required to sign in. To do so I have to select either a personal or business account - neither is free

Dropbox is free and easy way to share files on a small scale.

Default Box File Sharing

Hi Toolless,

I don't use Dropbox but I suspect that it works in much the same way as Box. Box is a service for saving and sharing files, rather than a social media browsing site like Soundcloud, so files are shared "by invitation" through a special sharing link provided on your account page.

The link that you provided in your OP appears to be a direct link to your account page (from the url in your browser?) - which is why you need to log in to view it. Anyone visiting that link will therefore be confronted by a login dialog customised for your account! Additionally, anyone trying to sign up for a new account from that url (as trevlyns did) will be presented with upgrade options to paid accounts since the server knows you already have a free account!

The simplest way of sharing files in Box is to log in to your account and go to your file list. To the right of the file list you should see the heading "Collaborators" and below that "Link to Folder". Click on the text box below that, highlighting the link, and copy the link to the clipboard. Done.

(Tip: It might be a good idea to edit the new link into your OP to avoid further confusion ...)

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Keith

Alternatively you can create a PUBLIC folder in Dropbox (via the website, not locally), drop in your file then click Share and copy the link. Anyone that you send the link to can then access that file without having a Dropbox account or having to sign in.

For example:

Toolless - Sorry, forgot to say that you, yourself, would need to sign up to Dropbox (it's a good, free service used by millions of people). Once signed up you get 2GB of cloud storage accessible through their website. Once there, you can create folders and share links to stuff as per my previous post.

Well, I don't want to do a Dropbox tutorial but try this...

1. Go to the website www.dropbox.com and sign in. You'll see a list of folders one of which is named Public

2. Click on the Public folder

3. Upload the MP3 file you want to share (you can drag and drop the file onto the screen or there's an Upload icon up the top of the screen)

4. Once the MP3 file is uploaded, hover over the entry and a SHARE button appears on the right

5. Click the SHARE button, click "Shorten Link", click "Copy to Clipboard"

The shared link is now on your clipboard and can be pasted into a Reaper forum post, email etc. Anyone with the link can download/play the MP3 file

I use picosong.com.

Nice and easy. If you just want to share some audio, works great. If you want to delete it later, just save the delete link it provides you. No accounts, 15mb limit, perfect for microphone tests etc that I share with audio colleagues.

I am going to strugle at 15mb max
The file I have done with reapert is 61mb
I did this same track with audacity and for some reason the file size was about 10mb
I dont inderstand why reaper makes the file so big
But I have a video one of about 3mins what is 160mb
