Default Avoid resample

Hi!

I'm trying to organize my old projects by editing them and saving them as new projects.
All these years I've been recording using different sample rates.

The problem is that presently I work with 96k sample rate and when I open an old project automatically it is resampled into this sample rate. I suppose there is no use of resampling a 44k media into 96k and additionally the resulting audio file occupies much more space.

Is there any way to maintain the original sample rates of the media files after inserting them in a new project?

Thank you in advance!

welcome to the forum, sarrioan.

I'd suggest you export all settings of your current Reaper installation (Options -> Preferences -> General), then set up another (portable!) install of Reaper into another dedicated folder, import the settings of the first Reaper install and then just change sample rate of the second (portable) install to 44.1 kHz before importing and mixing your old tracks.

Having multiple portable Reaper installs can be very handy. You can have as many differently configured portable Reaper installs as you wish (each living separately in its own folder) so that there's one install for every purpose that may araise. Much better than constantly messing with program settings of only one Reaper install.

Just make sure the Project sample rate check box is checked in the Project settings and you are good to go.

The only caveats are in working with multiple tabs which have different sample rates, or if you have some driver that doesn't play well with having REAPER set it's sample rate.

Thank you very much!

I'll check how to make some portable installs...
I started working with different tabs and constantly changing the preferences but it is too annoying!!!

What I really do not like is that I do not know the bit rate of a project beforehand. Only when it is open i realize that it has been resampled...

It is not resampling the actual file, but resampling it for playing in the current sample rate. SO while it is "resampling", it is not changing the actual audio file. Follow the advice posted already, but in case it does happen again, your actual audio file is untouched.

I think you rather mean sample rate not bit rate

I alway double-click a project's media file prior to open the project to check the file's properties in my media player. I'm using AIMP 4 which displays these properties.
