Default Synchronizing two laptops running Reaper!

Hello!!

Please can someone help me as I'm finding what I've read is very confusing.

With a friend who has a laptop with Reaper on, same as me, I want to run them in synchronization with each other!

I was hoping to be able to use the usb connectors for this. Is it possible?

I have found the option window in Project Preferences but I don't understand what the options mean.

Thanks in advance!!!

EDIT:
As a result of randomly looking at posts here, I just downloaded "REAPER User Guide v5.40" and there it is in section 24.6-8 !!!
I think I can get that to work !! This document is AWESOME! "Geoffrey Francis" is a legend!!

Why ?

IMHO the better option is to share the files (by Operating System means, via a Network), and create a new Reaper project containing both sets.

So me and a friend can jam live together.

I can be running drums and bass and they can be playing synths with an arpeggiator or triggering loops in time with me and not drifting off. Does that make sense?

It's not strictly necessary to use two machines for this. You can use a single one and share the data. This seems like a lot more appropriate.

Just dont use Reaper, triggering loops n such is not really its domain.
Look in to apps that support Ableton Link, that is the best syncing protocol going and most of the software using that will have some bias towards a live performance mode, if you have IOS phones or Tablets there are a plethora of available software cheap and free to do this, on Android you currently only have Remix Live.
Desktop is catching up slowly but surely, but the developers here have no interest in Ableton Link as such, but they did mention that they might create something that Synced to Ableton Link, but that got lost in the forum somewhere
