readelay
Assuming you have better favourite delay plugin than readelay
can you tell me what do you like more on them?

I like my JS pedal delay because it sounds and acts like a delay pedal. Most importantly, it can do "infinite repeat" without the volume escalation that you get in ReaDelay and many other ITB delays. ReaDelay just mixes the new input with the repeats every time it comes around. If you play exactly the same thing, it theoretically gets 6db louder each time. The one I wrote has compansion around the delay buffer. It also has a couple of saturation stages and some low-passing to make it more like an actual pedal.
I also tend to use Analogic and Bionic delays (from the interrupter) because I have them and they look cute. They modulate well, have their own Modulation and have convenient buttons for setting tempo based delays. Mostly it's just old habit, but I usually reach for them first.

I like Spaceship Delay from the KVR Developer Challenge 2016. It's free and it's lots of fun. https://www.kvraudio.com/product/spa...usical-entropy
You can get some great sounds from it (and also some really horrible ones if you're not careful !).

My favourite delay for a long time has actually been Korg's MDE-X, an ancient classic, but the delay algorithms are the only thing I use from it (it's a multi-effect). There are a few delay types, they're all good imo, one is similar to the readelay multitap, there's a stereo/cross delay and an LCR BPM delay. I'm pretty sure there's no Reaper-native LCR delay, strictly speaking, including among available jsfx. LCR delays, I've found to be cleaner in the mix in general. It can also do dub-like delay type effects, pretty much any delay requirements are possible

I'm really enjoying TAL-DUB lately: https://tal-software.com/products/tal-dub
It's free.
Play around with the settings in the GUI, but also control the signal with the track envelops.
I'm telling you, you'll discover sounds you never planned on getting with TAL-DUB.
It's like this: most of the time you know what you want so you go to your favorite trusted delay program, but sometimes you're in the mood for experimenting. That's where the fun starts with TAL-DUB!

I am still looking for a really good multitap delay plug.
Already have the excellent Space Echo clone from GS. Even a working 64bit Watkat would be nice....

Course, I'm the guy will just build my own by making a delayed feedback loop and sticking whatever I want in and around it. For that, the simplicity and transparency of ReaDelay is great.

Imvho, bkDelay sounded the best to me, out of all the free ones.
Has some nice presets too ... The "Dimension" preset is pretty special.
No GUI, but sounded the "best" to me.

Have you tried etap2?
http://www.echotapper.nl/etap2/etap2doc/
In terms of the OP, I have time to experiment. I find I can get what I want using Readelay chained with a few other plugs.
Years of messing about on rackmount gear helped.
Getting the sounds is easy when you know how. The clever bit is coding it into one unit/plugin.
