I have no idea what that is. Does it do what the alternative feature does in Logic X?

Sorry, didn't realize you may not be aware of SWS.
SWS is an extension that adds additional functionality. Within that - in the extensions menu that appears after it is installed - is a feature called SWS Snapshots which allows you to choose just what you want to create named snapshots for, in your case making alternate mixes where alternate and snapshot share the same meaning. So, you could create lots of 'alternate' mixes and switch between them, assuming that is what the Video is showing.

I highly recommend it due to the features it adds.

Umm... no
Save as would take up more space on the drive. 1 gig file x 3 alternatives = 3-4 gigs in Logic all 3-5 alternatives would remain 1 gig
huge difference here

No problem. Yes, I'm new. I'm normally a Logic or Reason guy, but Reaper taxes my system a lot less. So as I create in it I'm constantly looking for features from both to use within Reaper.

Welcome! I actually started with Logic for PC but left in the mid-2000's when Apple purchased Emagic. I'm not sure snapshots persist across opening/closing Reaper (can't remember), if it doesn't then versioning is the better method but that is more of a managed 'save as'. Snapshots are great for comparing mix decisions over the life of a session.

No,
you save in same directory,
like:
Project1_mix1
Project1_mix2
Project1_mix3
and do not tick of folder/move/copy etc.
so the audio stays the same place.
Then it's just the size of the project-file-itself with optional undo-file.

Thanks my friend. I'll jump around with both methods. Mostly what I need it for is arrangements. I do a lot of scoring and in logic, I like to create alternative takes for my cue edits.
So I'll have the main project, then an alt edit of it tat's 30 seconds, 15 etc

Only the parameter-settings for the effects, not the actual plugins or samples used.
Midi, yes, but that's so small in size.
In fact, this is afik really the same as in Logic,
only that Logic stores all versions in one file.
You should also do the same with major upgrades/changes with your DAW-system, so you easily can go back.
