Default Item/track lock does not prevent from splitting items?

Hi,

Is there a way to lock items so that they cannot be split?

I try to get a track locked, but items still can get split..

Yes, but that locks everything.

I only want locked items to be locked.

Select only the ones you want to be split, else REAPER will split all under the cursor.

Have you got the latest release of REAPER? There was some i-dotting and t-crossing performed on locking in 4.7+ from memory.

Just ideas, sorry if you knew this already.

Thanks for helping guys.

Yes I have latest REAPER.
I know about the item selection thing, just want to know if there is a way to have a proper lock on items.

To me, being able to split a locked item is unexpected.

Actually, being able to do anything on a locked item is unexpected, except unlocking it.

You have right-clicked the locking button to see the lock settings? There are a selection of properties that you can choose to lock or otherwise. Just "locking" doesn't necessarily lock all parameters...

Of course, having the possibility to lock separate elements is really powerful.
But I have not been able to prevent item split.

Preferences/Editing behaviour: If no items are selected ...

Should help for unselected items at least.

Yep that is closest to what I can expect, thanks!
Still not fixing the split on locked items, but helping

Actually sat down in front of REAPER, now

Locking "Items full" seems to prevent splitting, addiktion.

Any good?

Edit: I see from Dstruct's reply and your answer that this is too much locking. What exctly do you want locking, and what do you want NOT locking?

He just want's to lock items on its own to prevent splitting. Makes sense. It's a bug IMO.

I think it's just clicked -individually locked items don't heed the "items full" locking status and still allow splitting. Have I finally caught up with the issue? -I agree that this looks like a bug.

Yes you got it guys.

I also think this is a bug, or just another feature that would be nice to add.
I have tried older versions of REAPER, does not seem to be different.

How can I open up these locking options? If I right-click on the lock icon nothing happens. I can only toggle locking on/off via left mouse clicks.

Right-click the lock toolbar button, not the Item lock icon. Lock settings are set globally.

Any good or are we at cross-purposes?

Ah thanks, planetnine! I had removed the locking button from the toolbar long time ago and completely forgot about it.

I agree that this is stupid. I blocked the item from changing and do not want to touch it anymore. But Ripper cuts him anyway. It is not right.

I sure it's not a bug, the problem that most FQ's I've seen do not clearly define what it should do.

Most likely when the 'lock Item' was requested, there was no mention of editing the item. Do not assume that the Developers know everything that it is to do.

I new request should be made to update the current way that 'lock items' is used.
