Default Velocity isn't changing note volume

Velocity on the midi track for individual notes was working at first, then all of a sudden out of nowhere, I when I tried to change the velocity, the volume of the note didn't change. Putting the velocity of a note all the way to zero somehow didn't mute it.

FYI: velocity does *not* affect an instrument's volume by definition - that depends on how the instrument is configured. Typically, synthesizers or sample players feature a dedicated parameter that determines how note-on velocity affects volume (often via the 'modulation depth' of an envelope, which in turn affects the volume of notes).

So, what (virtual or physical) instrument are you using?

But that can't be completely right because velocity was in fact working for a while for the instrument plugins, and then after some point it stopped working even though the only thing I ever changed on the instrument plugin itself was the attack. I'm using PLAY Hollywood strings. The only overall changes were that over time I added more tracks, notes, midi events and envelopes.

Now it just randomly started working again. Only thing I did was add some more notes and adjust the track envelope.

I have never experienced this phenomena with any instrument.

Maybe you got a wee bug in your system?

A little glitch or something?

No I don't think so, it's repeated and exact, it almost seems like it happens after the same amount of time after working on every song.

I would suspect the PLAY engine.

Used to "use" it and gave up on ever getting it to function reliably.
Now using similar sounds via Kontakt with nary a problem.
But I thought EW had sorted all the issues out some time back.
Might be worth checking out their forum stuff.
