Default Reaper in Mac: VST version or AU version of Kontakt?

Which is best? When inserting a Kontakt 5 or many other synths etc I have a choice of loading them either as VST or as AU.

Pros and cons?
Doesn't matter which?

AU is the standard plugin format for Apple. That said, third party AU plugins that are not created exclusively for Logic/Apple often are written in VST format and have a compatibility layer (wrapper) in the programming to make them compatible. My guess is with Kontakt/Reaper you are better off using the VST version.

The main reason, why I use VST whenever possible is, that it allows MIDI routing and AU does not.

Example: I have the NI Kontrol-S keyboard and when I record it's ARP, only the played keys get recorded, not the ARP notes. To record the later, I need to record the MIDI output of the ARP track to a second track. This is only possible with VSTs, not with AU, which shows, that Logic sucks ... and Reaper rocks

And because using VST usually has no downsides, I only use AU, when needed.
