Default Headphone mix on Scarlett 6i6

So, I'm not a newbie but I feel like I must be missing something obvious...

I'm trying to get a separate headphone mix on outputs 3/4 on a Scarlett 6i6 (2nd gen). I can't get any sound from Reaper to play through outputs 3/4 unless I use ReaInsert, which doesn't seem right.

In settings, I've confirmed that I'm using the Focusrite ASIO driver, and the output range includes output 4.

By way of troubleshooting, I've tried to simply route the master to output 3/4, but get no signal in the Focusrite Control app.

When I drop in ReaInsert, I can get output on 3/4, so I don't believe it's a hardware problem.

This should be simple, right? What am I missing?

This is on V4.75, Windows 10, fwiw.

So I tried a portable install of V5, and it worked as expected. I also got the 3/4 outs to work in Ableton. So I've narrowed it down to something in my V4.75 installation, I suppose. Thoughts?

update to 5 ?

i guess that's not an option

i would try to compare all ths hooks and eylets in both configs (4.75 and 5) to sort it

[ot slightly]
i have an 6i6 2.gen , but use only in 3+4 and out 3+4 , my headphone is plugged into headphone out 2 (aka 3+4)

in front of the 6i6 sits a mackie 12Vlz and the 6i6 is connected via the aux-bus and returns as lineins
roomspeakers are pluuged into mainouts of the mackie. the routingcapabilities in the mackie allows to
send the mix from the mackie as 2 track signal (i don't need more) to the fc and to the reaper and at
the same time to the roomspeaker. to isten via headphone i dial the headphone 2 pot at the 6i6 .
here is a site with closer description :http://ethanwiner.com/mixer2daw.html
[/ot slightly]

i had some difficulites in the beginning to manage the focusrite control in the right way .. but once
understood it runs flawless.

Thanks for the reply. After further troubleshooting, I have found that it has to do with the Monitoring FX tab in Reaper. When I disable SPAN there, everything works as expected. (in V4 as well as V5.)

Sidebar, during my brief run with V5, I played a track that is fine in V4, but the timing of the vocal tracks is off in V5. Any idea what might be the cause of that? I had imported my V4 configuration into V5. Is that an issue?
