Default saving sources .wavs to save horsepower?

would it not be possible to save each source as a .wav with plug in effects saved and then import them into new tracks with NO plug ins running to save on your computer resources or is this a LOT of extra work for no reason? just a theory i thought id throw out.

That sounds like track freeze to me - on which there are any number of previous threads.

that sounds like stem rendering to me.

In the 'old days' it was called
'print-to-tape' or 'print-to-disk'.

'Ya had to do it when you only had a 500mhz machine...
(I had as many as 30 16bit/44.1khz tracks running on a Pentium2/450mhz machine that way)

its a trade off between performance and disk space - well it is for me anyway as I've got less than 10gig left on my laptop HD!!

But yeah, you can right click your track and render the source as a new take and take your VST/FX off line at the same time by selecting 'Apply FX as new take' - you then have the choice of going back to your original midi/untreated audio if you need to change it.
