Default Use Readelay as a verb?

set something like a 0.5 1/8th note delay. A bit of feedback.

Isn't that all a reverb does anyhow?

Some EQ, comp.

Maybe a bunch of delays with no feedback. 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.25

pan them around. Everything is nicely tempo-sinced.

Maybe add a transient killer.

Home-brewed.

So long as you are not going for realism you can make some okay reverb style effects, especially like crude Spring style.

As for the classic early digital reverbs created with delays:

"Just 20 or 30 delay taps might be enough to approximate the early reflections, and by choosing different patterns and wider or narrower spacings the impression of various sizes of room or hall could be created."

Read on from Digital Reverb if you want to fake your own:

Tempo-sync'ing is a bad idea, in general. You'll just end up masking the delays with transients. Better to have the delays hitting when nothing else is.

And is almost certainly guaranteed to make it sound false too.

Yeah, better to have a bunch of random timings. They'll be so close together that tempo will be irrelevant anyway.
