How did you do it ?
Is it Synthedit ?
If so, you can make a backgroud image (jpeg, bmp, png...), and you have to have knobs (you can find many free ones around the web).
About the knobs, in fact it is just an image which includes about 100 variations of itself at various rotation points (from fully left to fully right).

If it isn't Synthedit, wel, erhh... i don't know
Then i suggest you give a look at the nice skinning program made by Asseca quoted above.

Cheers

Yup, they're all stored in Application Data. That's another of the cool things about Justin's approach... totally editable and migratable between systems.

here´s the 1176 drum smash setting (saved it as an fx bank) - enjoy! must polish on the vari-mu and fairchild settings some more, before posting them..

http://download.yousendit.com/CCF0C126796CF92F

the setting kinda gives the 1176 snap, but lacks a tiny bit of the real things "smack"..

Yeah, I don´t suggest that this setting emulates the 1176 - more kinda "inspired by" approach. I don´t want to cause any stir!

..and, obviously I had trouble tuning in the smooth distortion that smears the transients when you push a real 1176. Well, there is NO such smooth distortion at all in this plugin.

I hear you! :-)

Nah, I´m not into an*l controversy - more into producing good music. I´m not a registred Reaper user, but enjoys the "tone" in this forum and visits it therefore..

SO, for god sake - DO NOT in your wildest imagination believe that I nailed THE sound! BUT, I had some succes with this setting when mixing the drumbus on a recent project I mixed.

Which folder do the .fxb files go in? The files in FXchains are .RfxChain...?

You know that's the LOSER JS one right? And the one he just posted for was a LOSER vst one called DVC.

Just making sure we're on the same page...

Yes this preset is for the DVC vst-plugin! Ok, I´m not very technical when it comes to computers, and I don´t have Cubase here at home - but as I recall I saved the preset as a fxb-file, no? Maybe I did something wrong.. :-(

I dropped the .fxb file into LOSER's vst folder, but the preset won't appear on the GUI. I also tried importing it as a preset library but then it asks for the .RfxChain form...so I don't get it.

Where is the preset located on your machine?

Hey while you're here Pipe, maybe you could explain how to save these? I thought it was just left-click next to preset, export preset library? And then import the same way?

Ok, tried to recreate it here at home - don´t use my home computer as daw, so I downloaded the latest version of reaper and losers bundle + the fxb-file from yousendit. I put one instance of dvc on a channel, pressed "load" and opened the fxb-file which was located on the desktop. Works fine. Dunno how to help!?

Awesome! Will try it tomorrow.

Edit: Okay, couldn't resist and already tried it now. Well since I don't know (and don't give a ... about) how a 1176 sounds I can't comment on the quality of this preset. But I really shouldn't anyway, oh we arent on KVR here, hehe ...
But seriously I'm glad people like and actually use my plug-ins

Made a little manual, today:

Now at: http://loser.asseca.com/

Will do some more detailed explanation of the features next week.

BTW I did write it in the hope to not to have to do presets at all...

Great manual! For an awesome compressor btw...I'm amazed by the cpu-hit vs what it can do.

You don't HAVE to do presets...I just like them for quickly trying different settings out on a source. And both you and Pipe did some great ones for ReaComp etc. But I can probably try and copy those over...

Ahh... dang new version: Now at: http://loser.asseca.com/ (I though I fixed that already, like I fixed the typos in the manual, but then Open Office crashed and ... at least there are no other bugs*.)

*except when you load a plug-in at a samplerate that is not 44100kHz, times (e.g. attack or delay time) get initialized wrong, I have no clue about why, since I initialize times based on the samplerate queried by the host (maybe you shouldn't query it in the constructor where they get initalized, reads SDK ... throws SDK away...). Anyway the just get initilized wrong thats all...

Okay I did the preset thing. Here they are. (Attachment since stashbox links to them as a text file.)

Kick, Snare, NY Drum compression, 2 x Vocal, 2 x Guitar, Bass, 3 x Limiter, 2 x Distorion presets.

Hope you like'em.

Note: Use caution on the distortion presets (I don't want to be made responsible for broken speakers or anything!). The sustain on the distortion ones isn't very good (expecially the fuzzy one), but I put them in to demonstrate the versatility

Ah I forgot to tell you that REAPER doesn't update the faders for none-GUI (and/or plug-ins that are viewed in the guiless mode) when you change the presets. I already told Justin. Hopefully he'll fix it. Just click the UI button once and the faders will update

To the far right of the Preset: drop-down box is a button with 3 dots. Click that, and select Import Preset Library.

That'll work for LOSER's...but from where he quoted me, I think he's talking about this post:

If so, click on Load, to the right of VST program, and navigate to where you put the preset files. I'd put them in LOSER's VST folder for a start.
