Default Modify attack property of a midi note

Guys,
I have checked the manual and I don't think Reaper has the ability to modify the attack for selected midi notes.
Editing the midi note properties does not allow for Attack/Decay/whatever to be modified (yet!).

My purpose is trying to create real sounding snare rolls in Battery. If I use my MPC I can modify the attack properties for each notes and it adds a lot.

I could assign the same snare sample to multiple pads and shave off the attack for each cell (and this is still a viable option) but it would be great if Reaper allowed this sort of editing in a 'step edit' view.

Am I correct that Reaper cannot modify the attack or decay of a midi note, if not please tell me how I can do this?

there's a velocity per-note as part of the midi standard (drag the top of the individual notes up/down), but the attack property is probably VSTi dependent, and per-channel, not per-note.

you can also automate any parameter of the VSTi, you might be able to draw in a snare roll curve.

Well, yes, you are correct, but, as far as I know, the "Attack" propertry is not part of the MIDI specification for individual notes. What you'll need to do it set up envelopes to controls the pads' Attack and Decay parameters in Battery. But setting those envelopes for individual notes sounds like a lot of work to me.

As in (not for Battery though):

[I can't help feeling that I've misunderstood something though]
