Default ReaMix now available as e-book

I'm happy to say that "ReaMix: Breaking the Barriers with REAPER" is now available on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iBooks and on your computer with iTunes

Go here for more info:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/ream...41774159?mt=11

I'm hoping eventually to get the REAPER User Guide available in this format, but it is a big job and takes time, and hasn't even been started yet. Don't anybody hold your breath waiting for that one!

Any plans to get it in Kindle format? (Yeah, I know - some people are never happy. )

I don't know anything about iBooks - maybe there's already a way to make them available on Kindles.

I've been reading it on Kindle for a while now -- look for 'File download' option on Lulu ReaMix page. The PDF you get displays properly and is usable on Kindle. The only problem is the funny default filename ,)

Nothing updated, same copy. Sorry, I can't help you out with an e-copy, I don't even have one myself! No i-phone etc here!

Thanks for that tip. I did purchase the .pdf version some time back and pulled that onto my Kindle when I bought it about a month ago. However, it's not ideally suited for the display. You can get around it, but you have to deal with panning and zooming to get around. I have discovered that switching the Kindle to landscape mode helps, but it's still not as nice as having a document specifically formatted for the Kindle, such as the Mike Senior Mixing Secrets book.

Email the pdf to your kindle email address and type the word convert in the subject line.
Works perfectly.

Hope this is not too silly to ask, but do I get a copy of the pdf if I purchased a hard copy before?

Thanks for reminding me about this. I had tried it on a different document when I first got my Kindle, and wasn't impressed with the conversion. However, at your recommendation, I just tried it with my PDF of ReaMix and it's quite acceptable. There are some places with funky formatting, there's no way to page from chapter to chapter, and a few other things, but it's good enough to have an extra copy of a book I've already bought.

Still, if it came out in Kindle format so I could use the table of contents, index, and full navigation techniques, I'd probably buy it.

Thanks again for sending me down this road.

Well since some kind soul has apparently walked off with the copy I bought from Lulu and I don`t know who it was, it looks like I might well have to buy it twice.

But I will get the e-book version this time.
Harder to actually steal.

Shame - it is a pretty nice book.
And now I am left wondering which of the many friends and other visitors to Terrible Towers stole it.

*sigh*

I have the pdf and I use ezpdf reader on my evo to read it, table of contents works fine as far as I remember. I printed it too because this book is amazing. Definitely stretches the mind. It also had the fantastic effect on me of making me realize how deep reaper is and how good the effects are that come with it (including the JS effects, which I only knew sparingly), preventing me from having plugin-itis.

nicholas - for some reason the forum is not letting me send you PM.

have had this trouble before so it is prolly something I have set wrong in my prefs. I will try again.

Odd thing is, I get PMs and can respond to them no problem and occasionally I can send messages.... go figure.

Just wondering if the author is involved in this post, and if so, there's a reason it's not available in other non-US iTunes stores? (eg I'd love to buy this in Australia, but I need a US iTunes account)???

Yes, that would be "Nicholas" (aka Geoffry Francis), he also writes the Reaper User Guide.

Hang tight, he's usually through here on a regular basis and should be able to answer your questions about his book.

Alas I can't help you myself, as all this is handled by LULU. You could put your question to them if you like www.lulu.com

Bummer...purchased off iTunes, and can't extract it as a PDF, which would make it easier to read on my laptop. Anyone know a solution?

Very cool for those who have a reader!

There is a free software called Calibre that is supposed to work great at converting e-book formats...never tried it but have seen a lot of folks praise it!

Caliber does work quite well.
I use it for older manuals and technical books to read in the subway and it does a decent job.

I do like the fact that the pdf is less expensive than the print book. Something that does not always happens and have no idea why.
Last time I checked. The Cisco books were costing 60$ for the download

As always. Best of luck Nicholas

Thanks, Smurf. I don't know how to get the book off my iPhone in order to use Calibre. I'll look around online, but I'm sorry I didn't get via Lulu.

Your Very Welcome dkeatscary! I don't own an e-reader yet (leaning towards a jetbook lite only because it uses regular AA batteries) but have heard good things about the software.
