11 pages to go through here too. Updated frequently. Between these two threads you pretty much find it all!
http://bedroomproducersblog.com/ is much, much more efficient and useful than either of these threads. there's even a 'best of' category of all freeware plugins in existence, if not, you could ask the administrator to compile a best of in any missing category, hes cool like that!

I'll give you that, RC. BPB and other blogs are perhaps more efficient, but that's what you get when you dedicate a whole website to VSTs and other plugins.

We are so spread all over Reaper, in-the-box recording, and the world in general, that some pockets of info might get away from us.

I still say "bravo" to technogremlin and Shane, and all those who contribute to the freeware threads. Some of the best ones of the past are in zip files, page archives, and lurking in other dark corners. I got most of my plugins from the Reaper threads, and from looking for the best alternatives to the paid stuff.

What about the new Sampletank 3 (Free) ?

Not necessarily the best free player out there but the free sounds (piano, percussion and bass so far - more to be added in coming weeks), in particular the P bass, are very good.

I've yet to hear a "good" free bass guitar that's usable straight out of the box...until now that is. Well worth a look.

Chris Kerry / CK_Modules of Synthedit fame has decided to make all his plugins freeware (Synths, FX, MIDI).

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewto...20936&start=45
http://www.chriskerry.f9.co.uk/CK_VST.html#WideBoy

I actually bought Wideboy and Pattern Arp before so know these are good. The pattern arp is very unique and can be quite creative.

X-Jupitae WideBoy Synthesizer:

X-Jupitae Flexoid Synthesizer:

Multi-FX:

Multi-Band Processor-FX:

Interactive Pattern Arpeggiator (Midi VST):

Polyphonic Step Sequencer (Midi VST):

V'ger, when I clicked on the Chris Kerry link, I got this:

Quote:
Site removed!

This site has been removed because it has exceeded its bandwidth allowance.

If this is your site, see our Webspace FAQ to see why this has happened and what you need to do next.
I got the WideBoy and the keycodes from the Dropbox link on the KVR site.

That is a SynthEdit file and more than likely a false positive. Your call on if you want it on your computer or not.

Personally, I got rid of all the SynthEdit stuff... ymmv.

I would prefer not installing another software to remove this one. Is there any manual way to do this ? Restting firefox only works for a while and then its back.

This is a link from the cakewalk-forum and I think the files are
with a high probability malware-free...probably a copy from Chris
Kerry`s site.

http://forum.cakewalk.com/Chris-Kerr...-m3093316.aspx

Before I install....is the X-Jupitae Flexoid really worth to be installed
after all the excellent freeware we have already ?...
I mean is it something special?

I have 3 sfz sample bass instruments (all free) that sound really good if played / programmed right. A lot of the realism is based on an undertanding of the mechanics of a real bass player.

And i completely agrre with sample tank 3 . Despite the generally bad repo the company has earned on most music forums , this was a very pleasant surprise. Simple to use, clean and I even like the GUI.

Between ST3, Kontakt Player and Alchemy Player that's a pretty great free ROMpler for those without the dough.

I don't know if it has been already mentioned here but, the basic version of ReValver 4 is free. Just by installing and licensing it you get some (great) modules and some cab and ACT libraries for free. You can demo the other content that is in the software and purchase some other module or library if you like it.

Mentioned this in another thread I think, new release by Audio Assault:

Dial in a small amount of drive and cull the high end with the low pass filter for some great harmonic distortion. Sounds beast on drums.

Way late to respond here, but the .SEM. .SEP files that can give warnings are all SynthEdit files and a known and harmless thing, just check them all here for example: https://www.virustotal.com/

About the value of the X-Jupitae synths compared to to top of the line freeware stuff like Dune, Tyrell, Zebralette, Synth1, ZynAddSubFX, Alpha, Voyager etc they may not be on that level and a bit of an investement to learn, but they do have a raw and thick sound which can be useful on its own, check this example: https://soundcloud.com/vger-1/test-x...saw-automation

The real gems of the line are the MIDI arp and sequencer, some of the best around in my opinion, try them out.

I don't use Mac so others will know better, but can't say I've ever heard of something like that. It's rare even for PC.

But to be honest, it's going to be a rare plugin sequencer to beat Reaper's normal MIDI item editing, especially with single-click editing on, so meanwhile maybe try a a good sampler like TX16Wx.

(Here's a Reaper project with TX16Wx loaded with drums and a MIDI item you can have a look at if interested)

If the reason you want integrated sequencer into the drum plugin is to be able to load beats ready to go, you can still do this with MIDI items and a sampler like described above, just save the track as track template and tick the box that comes up to include the item. There's an added advantage with this and that is it allows you to load up beats with effects already perfectly set up.

The relentless Tomislav from the great Bedroom Producers Blog (BPB) has compiled a very clear list of his Top 40 Freeware VST Plugins Of 2014, check it out:

http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2014...-plugins-2014/

To me this as good a list as you will get.

just a heads up on a fantastic plugin, ZEN preset manager:

http://www.bigtickaudio.com/zen/about-zen

it's been mentioned in other threads a while ago (maybe even this one?) but it's really working as advertized for me - ie amazing.

beware, though, it's not for tweekers but for preset sifters (most of the time me)
