Recording/Playback stops, cracking sounds
Hi folks,
I recently bought a new laptop: I7, 16GB Ram, SSD, win 10. Top notch stuff and I didn't expect to have any problems with that.
Interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 first gen. Installed latest driver.
Reaper is 32bit (due to plugin compatibility) installed on the ssd.
After I installed Reaper I moved the old installation folder to the new machine to have all the settings and templates available.
But things are going wrong. When I playback or record every now and then there are these cracking, buzzing noises which are also been recorded. Sounds like a really short peak. In the past I had these kind of problems, when I had loaded to many plugins and the computer couldn't handle it. I also noticed some kind of flashing in the performance meter screen, when playing back or recording. Other than that there is no peakes in the performance chart or whatsoever.
And then, playback or recording stops. I need to stop, open up device settings and confirm again. then reaper got back the interface and can continue. But my presonus faderport is gone for good. I need to restart reaper in order to continue working, untill it crashes again.
To me it looks like an incompatibility with the interface driver.
It drives me mad!!
Does anybody got experience with that? Please help!
