Default Ctrl+click on timeline does not extend time selection...?

Ctrl+Shift+click on the timeline extends the time selection without snap. However, Ctrl+click on the timeline only moves the cursor, just like plain click, which seems kind of superfluous. I expected Ctrl+click in timeline to extend the time selection respecting snap, but it does not work that way (by default), and I cannot seem to set things up like that.

Should it not work in that way?
And/or, is it possible to set Reaper up like that?

By default shift + click should extend with snapping, shift + ctrl + click without it. For the changes (if you haven't checked those yet), Preferences/Editing behavior/Mouse modifiers, Ruler left click context.

Yes, it was changed. How very strange... I cannot believe I at some point decided to change Shift+Click to "Move cursor", instead of the default and much more useful "Extend loop points". Maybe I was drunk

Thanks for the help.
