Default Moving portions to another track.

Hi,

Definitely a Newbie.

Still in the evaluation phase of Reaper and was working in Audacity for a while but Reaper was recommended to me.

I have a vocal track (podcast) and have been looking at different methods for debreathing the track and found a nice method on YouTube but using ProTools (http://youtu.be/W2WANQVcz6I) but without the Waves plugin.

Basically, what he is doing is highlighting a section and moving it to another track. He does this right through the file and can then work on just the breath track.

How is this best achieved in Reaper?

Thanks

Steve.

Hi and welcome to Reaper forums.

One (imo quite fast) way to do it:

But you have to set up a mouse modifier for this beforehand (only once though):

Go to Options -> Preferences -> (Editing behaviour) -> Mouse modifiers

and set it up like this:

Then make a time selection, hold this modifier combo (Shift + Win in this case) and drag the item to the other track (as shown in above gif).

Thank you.

That looks perfect and quicker than the shortcuts I was using in Audacity.
