Default How to show item name

Hi, is there a way to see the names of items clearly on the items. Without opening a window etc.? I wanted to change the order of many items I had and it was a nightmare. It would have been much easier if could see their names.

How does the rest of that Preferences page look for you?

Try enabling "Draw labels above the item, rather than within the item". If you don't see the name of the item then, item probably doesn't have a name.

I did it but no luck. I would assume that the items name is the files name. No?
When I double click in the media item properties in the 'take name' field there is a name. weird.

Hello,
just wanted to mention that yesterday, I struggled with this feature, and totally failed...

=> you need to increase the height of the lines to be able to see the name of the items! When reduced to the minimum, even though there is enough vertical space to write the name within the item itself, it disappears...

This is really annoying me, as I love to reduce track height to their minimum when rearraning items. If I do that, all the names disappear...

You can set that behaviour^^^ in Preferences|Appearance|Media under "Hide labels when the media item take lane height is less than...".
Default is 28 pixels.

Maybe something has been changed there or 28px is too much?

Maybe check the theme tweaker? In the actions-list, filter for "theme" and run the "show theme tweaker..." action.

What color do you have for item label, and media item background?

Why did not I see this setting, it was just under my eyes! So yes, I reduced it to 20px and now I can see the name of my items!
