Zooming in with video very slow

Hi,

If I have a video clip on the timeline it seems that zooming in horizontally makes things really chug.

Try it.. if you zoom in low with video on the timeline it becomes super unresponsive.

What decode mode is the video using? Select the video item and hit Ctrl+F2 for info.

Everything seems normal here, nothing unusual about VLC or the Reaper install.

Reaper is grinding to a snails pace with video here - Please take a look at this one it's killing me

Can you post a video (or similar video that is smaller) somewhere?

I suppose we could add an option for "do not show high-resolution peaks for video items"... but really it shouldn't be *that* slow, so whatever kind of media you're using is probably having some performance issue. So post it, I guess?

This issue is still here for sure (I seem to get it on any video with audio) and it's the reason that I always have to copy the audio to another track, glue it and then disable the audio on the video item (via source properties window).

That solves it but a automatic option that detects videos and then turns off the high res peaks would be amazing.

Especially if you can then turn back on these high res peaks in the source properties option window

Yes, thank you guys - I don't really use the audio from any videos I import anyway so using the 'ignore audio' checkbox in the video source properties fixes this for me.

This is a big relief I can tell ya. Much appreciated.

It really is amazingly slow Justin. And, after a while, seems to cause playback problems as well (stuttering audio etc). With the fix of 'ignore audio' these problems go away.

I'm running a smoking fast PC with excellent specs all round, so it ought to be able to handle this stuff okay.

If you post the video I can look into why it does this -- loading all of my test files here are reasonably fast in drawing the zoomed-in waveform peaks.

Unchecking Hi-res peaks option, brilliant!

I had grown totally used to the slow zoom on projects with video; a little annoying but I could deal with it. This is marvelous. Thanks so much.
