Portable recorders with S/PDIF input? (needs battery power)
I just bought a Zoom H4n. They're really nice except for a couple things:
1.) My Core Sound Mic2496 sounds a little better than the H4n.
I think it's both the Mic2496 pre-amps
and the A/DC.
2.) Zoom H4n has no S/PDIF inputs, so I can't feed it a digital signal (Mic2496 sends out ONLY coaxial & toslink S/PDIF digital signals.)
Mic2496 (the black unit on the back side): http://www.core-sound.com/images/PDA...%20Mic2496.jpg
You can see the 2 digital outs of tne top of the unit.
M-Audio's Microtrack II looks cool but I hear the battery life is really short and that it drains even when the power is off (unacceptable.)
Anything for around $199?
The
Edirol/Roland R-09HR can send S/PDIF according to Sweetwater's chart:
http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/recorders/chart.php
Product page:
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/R09HR/
...but I don't see that on the product page. Weird
I just need to be able to record 2-ch 24-bit/96kHz .wav files to a CompactFlash (CompactFlash High Capacity/CFHC preferred) card.
I'm not coming up with anything for around $200.
Thanks for any help!
