Error parsing project I've worked on for months...
I get the error parsing project. Yesterday I was working on the project and there was no problem. Saved it and went to sleep as normal. This morning it wont open. The project or the backup of the project do not work. Is this really how unstable Reaper is? Works without a problem until it trashes months worth of work?

The project loads OK here (but I do not have many of those plug-ins.
Try opening it with the FX offline (a check box on the File Open project window), then bring the FX on-line one at a time.

I'll guess from your Join Date that you have been using Reaper for several years now, so you know how stable it is. And I would hope that you have earlier back-ups too, in case you need them.

Whoops - had the wrong files in dropbox. Check it again if you have the time - now the problematic ones are there.

That one does show a parsing error - looking at it in a Hex Editor it is full of null characters.
You will need to go back through the back-up copies.

The back-up is included and has the same error.

I've never seen Reaper do anything like that. Are there any significant events in the System Log? Any disk errors?
Whatever caused it the project file looks to be hosed (but I did not look at every byte in it.)
I meant, do you have any earlier (time-stamped) back-ups? Or any disc / folder archives?

No errors, it's a rather new and perfectly healthy HDD that hosts my project files... I only have those two (the project & the backup) and this has never happened to me before. I'm guessing all my work is lost here?

In that case, I'm afraid so.
It won't help in this case, but please turn on multiple or time-stamped backups in Reaper's Preferences / Project. And back up your project files to another disk or USB stick or ... every so often.

Yeah, time to get paranoid about backups. Long live Reaper... totally love it but this is a pretty lethal bug, wouldn't think they'd let something like this happen in their software.
