Default Increasing VSTI no audio

With increasing frequency I am getting VSTI's that register midi but play
no audio. It started with SFZ player but I saved a template back from 2.5 and it loads but now East West Free I get no audio. I have monitor on and I see midi activity but I hear no audio, all channels, set to channel one, map to channel one, nothing works. I get this now on lots of VSTI's but to start, anyone have problems getting audio out of EAST WEST FREE?

Edit: ok, it plays live but I have a midi track it isn't playing. I am a midiot and perhaps it is a CC thing as I am loading a song and I got the keyboard part to playby loading cameleon, drums play with ezdrummer, bass no go with east west up and down.

I have 30 days to learn this song. I was surprised all the parts are available but I can't get the bass track to play audio. This happens
with alot of VSTI's, I get midi visuals, even the notes on the virtual keyboard play which tells me it sees the notes but I hear no audio.
??? what to do. I turn monitor on but no go.

Ok: I made a new project. I loaded the east west template. I can play live and hear audio. I paste in the midi and nothing. I open the midi editor and click on the notes I want to hear in the piano roll and they play but the midi track does not play audio

VSTi's usually require data to be sent on channel 1, you can
reroute your data by right clicking the track's VU meter >
map input to channel > Channel 1.

Also check the CC lane dropdown list for CCs marked with an asterisk (meaning they're unexpectedly containing data). It's quite possible that your keyboard/controller sends stray CC volume messages due to a dusty fader or something along these lines when played.
