Default midi notes by controller

I was wondering , is it possible to input midi notes using the controller's(synth) keys?

And I'm not saying hitting record and playing, but inputing notes by the use of controller's keys, instead of using the mouse for that(like step-rec).
(and if it's possible what settings must be made?)

Thanks a lot!

AFAIK it's not possible. You can record midi, and then edit afterwards.

But using the midi controller for step sequencing is not a bad idea at all. You should make a feature request..!

If all you're trying to do is record midi notes, then yes, it's possible. Check the excellent documentation, either in the program's help, the wiki, or Getting Started With Reaper, all of which are available under the "manual" link at the top of the page. They have pictures and explanations I don't want to repeat here.

Hello I think writting notes in midi editor is much more faster than step recording because u have to select step resolution or duration every time so it is slower. Instead of that if u start to draw notes on midi editor u will almost save 70 to 80 % time and efforts
