Default Moving from XP to 8

My much loved but ancient Acer Win XP machine is on its way out and I've just ordered a new Acer all-in-one running Win 8. I see from the Microsoft Compatibility Centre that Reaper will run OK on Win 8, and transferring my scores will be no problem, but I've got Reaper set up in XP to use ASIO with an Alesis interface, so can I transfer the programme with these settings from XP to 8 or will I have to download and install Reaper again and go through setting it up again to work ASIO with the Alesis?

I would reinstall all the new drivers onto your New PC as winXP drivers are not all compatible with Win8 OS. You will find the latest drivers for your soundcard on manufacturers website.

You will notice an increase in performance and how many VSTs you can run too...

Happy New computer day to you! :-)

Will I have to do all that when I upgrade my 8088XT to Win 3.1????

Don't tell me Win 3.1 won't run on that machine because I can't afford a 286!!!!!

I just did this as well.

FYI. Some of the drivers I needed were not available for Win8, so I just loaded the Win 7 drivers and they worked.

OK thanks for the advice. My new computer comes with Win 8 already installed and I was concerned about drivers, so it's useful to know that Win 7 drivers are OK.

Jeffsounds, Musikman......I stil fire my Sinclair ZX Spectrum up from time to time (it's the big 48K memory one) on a 625 line TV. I load the cutting edge bat and ball game from my Wafadrive and you know what - it still beats me. Ah happy days !!!
