Reload the page and try again. You may need to clear your browser cache, but either way, there are currently 3 randomly provided links. If one doesn't work, reload the page and try again, but now all 3 should work.

Great work, thanks.

Are you going to include a piano sometime in future releases?

Thanks again.

I use 8dio strings...I use GPO samples...I use (really excellent) strings and brass samples from Jasper Blunk...and they're all easily matched by VPO...the man has done a masterful job and if you have any interest in Orchestral composing, this is the first place I'd look.

Thanks for the update...much appreciated!

No. A piano can be a large sample library or VSTI all by itself. Free piano VSTIs or sample libraries seem easy to find and I figured most would rather choose their own piano.

Any particular free piano you personally like for orchestral work, Paul?

In general I like the Piano in 162 though it does lack release samples.

I'm between pianos at the moment. A while ago I made note of one that sounded better that what I'd been using but I haven't had a chance to play with it much yet and I have to find where it was that I saved the link to it!

Thanks. As for the web site design, I started with a free Wordpress template then styled it and added some extra functions to suit my needs. I used to do that sort of thing professionally.

Once I have a collection of demos, I'd like to create a page to show off how different composers have used the library so sure when you've composed something with it, let me know.

I love the Ivy Audio piano for orchestral, another great freebie. Big one though, adds a lot to project load times that's for sure.

I'll have to check those out but they demonstrate why I don't include a piano. Potentially doubling the size of my library by adding a single instrument, not everyone would appreciate that.

So, at best, I might link to some pianos, but I doubt my library will ever include one.

Good call. I remember when the Orion Sound Module came out there were complaints that half the size was taken up by 4 pianos that really weren't that large compared to the Ivy Piano in 162, the Salamander Piano or most commercial piano libraries. It isn't really possible to get a deeply sampled enough piano without going to at least half a gig or a gig in samples.

So I would NOT want to use my IvoryII Italian, or OTS Rosewood Grand ?? .... or is this for those who do not already have good pianos in their Libraries? What is the main concern here? Why would I not want the best VSTi piano available for orchestra work ?

Nice little library thanks.

I agree regarding non inclusion of piano. Far better to use a quality sample library or Pianoteq.

Ivy Audio Piano IN 162 is a good Kontakt and sfz freebie (shame it is so huge relative to the limited amount of velocity layers, but hey it's pretty decent and the price is right ).

Yeah Sostenuto. Just a question of why a piano wasn't included and what good freebies are. Kick up some of those gorgeous pianos you have and if you feel like it let us hear the results. Don't tell anyone but I've splurged on a few pianos too, love some of the tekks and teqs.

I really like my Ivory II Grands too! The freebees though are not at all bad, and probably once mixed in would be more then OK.

Solo piano, or piano really up front and exposed does require the best you can afford IMHO.

But ... quite amazing how pianos mixed in (even very poor ones) can sound pretty much OK.

Imagine that I included a 1GB piano in my orchestra library but it isn't the one you want to use. Downloading my library would mean a whole lot of time wasted downloading a piano you don't want, just to get the orchestra samples.

Even if I included a smaller piano, for many people, my included piano would go unused because there is a better one available elsewhere.

So, sure use the best VSTi piano you can find, and because my orchestra library doesn't include a piano, you haven't wasted your time downloading some other piano.

EDIT: not including a piano also reduces my storage and bandwidth needs.

@ bigcat1969 and @ Dr Bob too .....

MY bad .... appreciate the 'forehead slap'
Trance-like after hours on VI-Control Community as KH Strings Bundle offer timed out.

Your piano point is clear now (applause).

Staying with earlier KH Diamond Symphony, vintage VSL Orch (NI Komplete10 Ultimate), and NOW .....
2.0 Virtual Playing Orchestra ....

Many Thanks !!

Actually that's a pretty good combo. Hunter has some nice strings especially at that price point, I never liked the high strings in Kontakt Factory and as good as VPO is (and it is) strings are always a weakness for free orchestras. I don't know why brass and woodwinds are quite nice in the freebie wold, but strings are always a struggle to find especially Violin and Viola. Between the three you can also get some really nice layering.

Nice to know my library can be used along with professional libraries. That's more than I expected to achieve with my efforts.

Thanks for the feedback.

Apparently not a typical orchestral instrument though it does get some use. I'll add it to my list of things to consider for the future.

I hope so. I use it frequently. Sometimes nothing else will work for me. Saxes are hybrids between woodwinds and brass, and as such unique. They don't have to have a jazz feel. Check out Debussy's Fantasy For Saxophone and Orchestra (I may have the title wrong, but it shows you how they can be played as a classical inst. Or, if you are feeling magnanimous, check out my Three Winter Scenes, all of which have saxes in them.
