v5.1 Splitting Item Erases Item Post-split

Just upgraded to 5.1 (i386 ref 4ff7e5). Mac OS X 10.5 Yosemite on MacBook Pro.

When I split an audio track, the segment of the audio track following the split has been erased. Can undo (thankfully). But it's making editing ... unh ... tricky.

The project contains two tracks: 1 audio, 1 video. The item in the audio track is a .m4a file - perhaps that makes a difference. Length of the project is around 25 minutes.

As I wrote this report, I tried to replicate with a .aif file and there was no problem, so it's something related to .m4a files.

Workaround: should you experience this problem and need to get past it, here's what I did.
I created a new project and inserted _only_ the .m4a audio file.
I rendered that project as a .wav file.
In the original project, I replaced the .m4a file with the newly-created .wav file.
All was good.
Fortunately my project was small and simple and I had not worked on it for long, so there wasn't any complexity around replacing the file.
