Default Please stop audio glitches when monitoring incomin signal while playback and skipping

hey guys,
I'm recognizing audio glitches when monitoring live input signals. There is no problem when playback is running or reaper is stopped. I even can skip through the project when the playback is stopped but skipping through the project while it's in play state, it crackles every time you skip. I'm using immediate seeking.

What`s your performance monitor showing when you do this? Pretty stressful thing to do.
Could be as simple as a huge spike in cpu use when you skip around.
I know you are pretty hip, but this really is just the sort of silly thing you might have overlooked. Especially working live.

thanks for you reply!
performance meter shows nothing special (just checked it out right at the moment using recordings for a "virtual soundcheck")

Confirmed (5.18 x64) with single (empty) track monitoring (audio input) + playback at 256 samples buffer size.

RT CPU = 1.1 %
RT Longest block = max 2ms / 5.33 ms

Which plugins do you have inserted on the Track that is live monitored ?

You can try :

Right click in TCP on Track that is live monitored.
Choose: Track performance options.
Choose : prevent media buffering.
Also choose: prevent anticipative FX

Also: do you have audio items in your project from which the source files have different samplerates ?
Maybe your block size in audio device settings is set too small ?

Yeah when you start playback and while it is buffering FX etc, it stops processing that project's tracks FX/monitoring. Sort of known behavior that has existed for 10 years.

There are no media items nor FX on the track. Just straight audio input monitoring.

Also happens with Anticipative FX processing disabled.

well I even see this behaviour with no plugins at all, as Dstruct wrote.

I said "buffering FX etc", and the "etc" refers to some general purpose "is everything ready to go?..." checking. We could probably optimize some of that out, someday...

I still say no bug, this is a FR, as it's a DAW first (and a live mixer maybe 10th-11th).

I want to bump this. I tried different alternatives for over one and a half year now. Justin, do you think there could be some optimization in the near future? This would be awesome!
After trying Bitwig and Ableton now I can say, Reaper is the best way to go for that kind of live things. It just needs some more little tweaks.

Hello Justin,

I am also concerned with this feature.

Can you tell us if there would be some optimized use of "smooth seek" that would ameliorate the situation ?

Please see this post: https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...1&postcount=23
