Default Freezing when trying to select custom track color (SOLVED)

This is in version 4.56 (I didn't seem to have this problem in 4.55). I'm running Windows 7 x64. Whenever I try to right click on a track in the Mixer and select a custom track color, Reaper freezes. Nothing is responsive, and I'm forced to Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Once I click the "End Task" button, Reaper finally responds and asks me if I want to save my project before it closes. Really strange. In the meantime I think I'll go back to 4.55.

Edit: Ok, I'm an idiot. I had unplugged my second monitor from my laptop and loaded Reaper, therefore the color window was appearing on the unplugged second screen. I had to plug in the VGA cable and turn on the monitor to see it. Is there anyway to fix this behavior when Reaper loads on a single screen after being unplugged from an external monitor? So windows don't appear off-screen.

Run the Action "Reset position (cascade) all floating windows" will do it, I think.?

And map it to a toolbar button or keyboard shortcut. It's in the [View] menu too.

Hmm, I´m seeing the same behaviour after copying my configuration from a dual monitor machine to another with a single screen. The thing is that the shortcut for "cascade all floatin windows" doesn´t seem to work with the custom color window. I can move freely the floating master track, but nothing else in Reaper seems to be responsive until you press ctrl+shift+esc, as said above...

Is there any other tip to bring it on screen without having to reset my preferences?

Default Me too

I also experience Reaper drawing the color picker dialog invisibly if a second monitor is no longer attached. Escape will dismiss the dialog, which I think is new behavior compared to previous versions. I am using 4.73. This isn't a solved issue, and caused me a lot of trouble before I found the dialog off a thousand pixels to the right of my laptop's physical display.

Thanks for the ESC key tip for getting me out of the "PC lockup" I was getting...just spent 2 hours on this bug ...ESC worked. (I never did see a color window...either with a single or dual monitors)

In my case I had to import again my settings from my main machine in the troubled one, this time taking care that the color window appears in the main monitor on the source setup. It would really be nice if someone can chime in with a satisfactory answer...

I was having the same problem and thought that REAPER was freezing every time I tried to set a custom track color.

I connected up another monitor to my Surface Pro 3 and the color picker window was on that, but it was mostly off the screen and I couldn't click on the widow title bar to drag it.

I worked out that if I hit <Windows><P> and set the monitors to duplicate instead of extended, the color picker window then appeared on my Surface Pro 3 and I could see the whole thing.
