Default Is the wet knob the same as really quick NY style comp?

I've been using sends to do parallel compression. I was thinking isn't a lower wet/dry value on the ReaComp effect itself the same thing? I refer to the top right knob common to all effects. That one blends the processed signal with the original no? Am I missing something here. This seems almost too simple. I'm asking and not just trying because the whole area of compression is still rather daunting to me.

Yes, the wet/dry faders effectively mix in parallel AFAIK.

I still prefer to use sends. I like to have wet and dry on separate mixer channels, for immediate access.

NY comp often uses an EQ after the comp to boost highs and lows, hard to do with the wet dry knob
