Default "LINK" midi editors (like in Logic)

Hi, what i would really love to have in Reaper is the ability to have multiple independent midi editor (for example one as a score page, the other as midi "piano roll" style with controller lanes at the bottom, and a list editor) open simultaneously and "LINKED" so that the selection i make on one is reflected on the other but still preserving their independence (for example the score showing all the tracks while the midi and list editors just the selected one

this is exactly the workflow that's possible to have in Logic

here's a gif and a video that better show what i mean:

the lack of this function is basically what's still keeping me from entirely switching all my composing and producing work to Reaper, ditching Logic and Digital Performer for good :-)

i hope you can help me and this could be helpful for someone else too

thanks a lot!
all the best

Well, I would like to see Piano Roll and Event List at the same time! for the same track (item)! it's possible!
... in Logic, you know.
Why not in Reaper?
Oh why oh why.

Anyway, Reaper's Event List lacks some functionality, compared with Logic's one.

I vote for that.

I guess different 'versions' or 'views' of the MIDI Editor should be considered as different editors for that to be done.

There are several features like this, relating to behaviors with multiple MIDI editors, that we would like to implement but will probably need to wait until a major version number because the changes would affect a lot of code.

Having said that, please keep the suggestions coming!

yes...please!!! are you sure you can't make it in a quite shorter time frame?

anyway sure i'll keep posting suggestions...this one is actually the biggest and more "game-changing" one that i would prioritise over everything else

all the best!

(grin) Squeaky wheel here again... Had all this in Bars n Pipes Pro back in the late eighties/early nineties!

Including the stave editor...

AND a separate, editable lyrics track... which followed the timeline when the sequence played.

Awright, I know.... "bugger off with your boring, outdated old stuff, Ivan!"

Will be waiting.

For the Event List

1. Add an option to change the time format to

Measures.Beats.Divisions.MIDI_Ticks .

2. Make the values "scrollable" — let the mouse wheel movement change the value of the parameter under the mouse cursor. For example, if the cursor is over the Beats parameter, the wheel shouldn't change Divisions or MIDI_Ticks — just Beats (and, at certain points, Measures).
For all selected events (if more than one event is selected).

Hi Schwa, do you have any insight on the status of this particular implementation?

Thank you very much for your work.

All the best
