Default stream reaper's output locally (using reastream?)

hi,

im looking for a way to use reastream to listen to reaper while mixing to study how "lossiness" of data compression in streaming affects a mix.

there is a commercial plugin that approximates this effect but it costs an arm and a leg that I want to just rule out right away for this thread.

i have tried using live audio streaming services, but the delay is too ridiculous.

there must be a way to route the output of reaper via ip locally from your computer to your computer and perhaps listen to that stream with VLC or Foobar or the web browser right?

ReaStream will not help you in this context as it streams uncompressed audio preserving the original quality. You need to use some sort of live streaming encoder like Windows Media Encoder. It allows you to choose the quality properties of the streamed audio (bit rate). Use a media player to receive and check the encoded stream in real-time.
