Default How to send one MIDI item to multiple VST instruments?

I want multiple VST instruments to simultaneously play a single MIDI item. I don't want to make copies of the MIDI item, because I'll be revising it and don't want to have to revise a lot of copies. Not sure if this is a job for a plugin or some built-in routing options I'm not yet familiar with. General directions to the pertinent area of the documentation, please?

With all the synths on the same track:

Or... put the VSTs on different tracks and send the MIDI to all of them.

Reaper User Guide Sections 2.22, and 4.11. Perhaps also Section 12.35.

Also, if you have enabled pooling MIDI source data in Preferences, you can have a copy of the same MIDI item on several tracks and editing just one will change them all. Maybe not as simple and clear visually, but there's that too.
