Default 8th notes vs. 16th notes

So I'm looking for some imput or insight as to what you guys think or prefer when comparing the same song, same drum beat only one version utilizes 8th notes on the hi hat the other features 16ths. I lean towards the 16ths but thought trying the 8ths might open things up a bit more, maybe for vocals or for feel. The difference is subtle but present. I know it's subjective but interested in your views.

Don't mean to force a track I previously posted on everyone it's just a convenient example for the question.

With vocals over top, I think the 8th notes work better, has a more classic sound. 16ths maybe good for the last chorus to be a little different? But I found the 16ths distracting mainly. It is harder to say without vocals.
