snapping not obeying grid visibility

not really a bug request. i just fail to understand how the grid works, i just meticulously checked and unchecked probably every possible combination in the grid dialog, and could not get a selection that was not chopped perfectly at the beginning, to line up to the grid.

also, the selection is snapping at points where the grid is invisible even though 'snap visible' or whatever option is turned on.

what gives? how the heck does snapping work in reaper? I think i made this thread before.

great software, but the grid snapping dialog window is next to impossible to understand, especially since the things i try to do with it do not happen.

Reaper=Great, Grid Dialogue Window=TERRIBLE!!!

I've needed to post so many times to the forum about the weird snapping problems. Basically the snapping dialogue window is so feature rich, that its almost impossible to understand.

Example:

I set the grid to 1/128 because its nice to be able to zoom in and the grid gets smaller and smaller.

I want to set the snapping to follow visibility, meaning i only want the media item to snap to the grid that I can see. All well and good, so I set it that way.

However, the media item ignores this setting, and snaps to invisible and tiny grid settings that I deliberately told it not to snap to.

I do not know what grid setting to check or uncheck. You can teach me now but I will forget the secret, because the features in the snapping dialogue box are so many, but the wording and interface of that dialogue box are not so great.

I have learned and forgot the secret to getting this to work like 10 times.
