Default using a new keyboard

Hey, can somebody who actually understands this stuff help me with this? I've been happily using my Axiom keyboard to record MIDI stuff in Reaper by clicking on Insert>Virtual instrument on new track. I then load a VSTi on the track and away I go. Lovely. But I've got a new keyboard (a Roland) which has MIDI connections. I can use it okay to trigger my Kontakt samples when I load the Kontakt stuff as a standalone VSTi, but I can't get it working inside Reaper. What do I have to do?

Does it appear in your Preferences >> Audio >> MIDI Devices?
Is it enabled for Input (and Control)?
Have you removed the Axiom from MIDI Devices (if you are not using it any more)?

I'll check that stuff when I get back to my computer.

But can't Reaper have two MIDI devices in its list? (I want to use the Axiom as a controller, and the Rhodes as an instrument.)

Yes, so you can leave it in.

And as you want to use the Rhodes as a Synth enable it as an Output device too.

I had the same problem, the in and out midi of my new keyboard not appearing, but when Reaper was closed and opened again the midi's were there. And everything worked.
Don't forget to have your keyboard connected before! you open Reaper.

It can have several: I have an Axiom in there, a Casio PX3, a Novation ZeRO and a Korg NanoPad
