Default VSTi show as VST (SOLVED)

I am having problems due to Instruments being listed by Reaper as VST. My Nektar Panorama P6 controller cannot get access to controlling the Instruments because of this problem. The good folks at Nektar found the problem and suggested this needed Cocos attention. This is my first bug report ever and of course I am desperate. The list follows..

Applied Acoustic Systems: Lounge Lizard,Analogue VA, String Studio, etc

East West PLAY4

Tyrell N6

NUBILE

Amplitube 3

Mark Studio Bass

TONE2..Firebird - Rayblaster - Suarus Demo's

I am running running REAPER 4.78

regards Martin

Not really a bug. Right-click the plugin name in the FX browser, select Rename, tick the Instrument checkbox.

By the way, some of those plugins are NOT instruments at all (Amplitube, Mark Studio Bass).

I've not had to do that for Tyrell N6 (32-bit) here.

And AmpliTube 3 is a VST

I have no idea whats going on ..it has worked for all Instruments accept for those withing EAST WEST PLAY 4 and UVI WORKSTATION..They will sometimes show up as an instrument but mostly not..my Panorama P6 cant recognise them...even though they are named as a VSTi in Reaper.

If UVI W/S is acting like that randomly, there is definitely something not right. I have it installed on several machines, mine and a couple belonging to friends and all show up as VSTi all the time.

May I suggest you do a fresh portable install of reaper so you are using 100% fresh files & see if the same problem exists?
Doing a portable install will make sure you dont mess up your current .ini file as well!

Thanks Ivan, UVI actually does show up as an Instrument but it provides no parameters for Reaper to controll. Nektar says that UVI does not make it parameters available for reaper to learn. I only see BYPASS and WET. WET controls volume but no fader moves and BYPASS takes 2-6 rotations of the encoder to work. I have never done a portable install and not sure how it works...but will get on to looking. Thanks
