Default Glue with Tails?

How about this one? Just want to glue an item, keeping a little bit on either end (in case i need to crossfade later), but I want the item the same size after the action.

This is just to keep from having too many large files.

there is a tail length option for rendering stems or freezing, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

Best bet might be to record into a new track in time selection auto punch mode, instead of gluing.

hey thanks, the way i worked it was to make a macro to freeze the track and replace the midi item with the same section of the audio freeze track. But i still wind up with long files for each small item. This is where I wanted to use glue.

I thought the render item with tail action would do it, but I can't figure out what it does. Doesn't seem to do anything but create a new take...

Do you have SWS?

I have an action "SWS/AW Render tracks to stereo stem tracks, obeying time selection".

It will also dump the new file on a new track and mute the old.

Yea I have sws. This action still leaves me with the problem of track length files without the time selection option, or no tails with the time seleciton option.

Need something useable on multiple items at once that wont cut off effect tails and allow me to delete project length recordings not used in the project. The closest I can manage is "apply track fx," which basically does this, but prompts me to name each individual item render, bringing unnecessary tedium back to my workflow.

Guess the best option is to use time selection renders on individual items, as this does add a bit of a tail for me.
