The "Can't Get it Out of My Head" Thread!
You all know the drum. For some unknown reason, a really annoying song gets stuck in your head and you just can't shake it.
Well, it has often been said that a problem shared is a problem halved so I'm going to kick off this topic by stating what has been stuck in my head for the last two days.... and the stupid thing is on loop!!
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax..... Argh! RELAX? How can I relax with that noise going on in the back of my skull?!!!
That song drove me nuts three decades ago and now, for a reason that totally escapes me, it is back and won't leave me alone!!!!
Perhaps by venting about it here, that annoying song that is stuck in YOUR head can be put to rest too.
Ok boys and girls, ladies and gents, cool cats and mad dogs, have at it. What's stuck in your head?
EDIT - Since creating this thread, I've had ELO's "Can't Get it Out of My Head" running around in my mind (much better than "Relax") so I'm making that the official anthem of this thread:
My 4yr old is addicted to this movie and when we fall asleep to it (which is my intention when letting him watch it in my room) it goes on after the credits playing all the different artists versions of that song..
for me that is "chase the devil" or "sending outa space" (like the prodigy fans say).... i can blast a whole night away with finding new versions remixes in all kind of styles ....
LOLO you get my post of the month award oh so funny.
It was that or the evil Disney song that causes brain explosions on park rides. But since I don't hate my fellow Reaperians (We are all human beings with...FEEEEELings afterall I decided to lit it's cursed name go unspoken.

As soon as you mentioned "Feelings", I had a Sesame Street version of it that Kermit the Frog sung come to mind. I tried searching it on Google but couldn't find the one I was thinking of. I had it in the 70s on a Sesame Street cassette.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Kermit, Fozzy and Animal did a FAR better job of it than the original crew.
The song came up a while back on another forum and it had been years since I last felt it's pain. So I figured what the hell. I'm older and wiser than I was as a kid in the 70s. I can probably look at it from a purely dispassionate standpoint now.
W R O N G
It STILL literally makes me cringe. I think it was the non stop radio play it got. I remember my mother spinning the dial on the car radio and it coming up on 3 different stations.

nearly none of you all will know that song: "oh, mein papa" of Vicky Leandros. it was a german hit with lots of airplay in the early/mid 60s, when I was a kid. there was never ever a remake or cover version of it, as far as I know. at least I never heard one. (I am not giving you ideas, though ...) so I cannot remember to have heard it again anywhere later than 68 or 69.
that damn thing pops up in my head from time to time and I can hear it as clear as FM stations were in the 60s. its disgusting. and I dont know why. probably or better: for sure - our brains dont work as they are supposed to work. "hello, brain, please do not spoil unnecessary and unwanted and completely stupid and random memories to the consciousness. simply dont do it! never!"

Is this thread some S/M exercise inspired by "50 Shades of Grey"? Infusing "Oh, Mein Papa", and "Feelings" into innocent bystanders' heads is almost as cruel as mentioning "Sweet Caroline". This could be a looong day.

Basically it was recorded over the course of a week, by having anybody who happened to come into the studio add another overdub from one 7-1/2 IPS Ampex recorder to another - back and forth.
Me and a few co-workers used to play with a choir of seniors. We rehearsed a number of tracks ad nauseam. Ever since, there's two tunes that keep coming back to me over and over again, like some sort of musical noise floor when my brain doesn't have anything better to do.
The first one's "When I'm 64".
The other one's "Living on a Prayer", especially the solo. It was the only time during the whole show I was allowed to do something interesting on guitar, so I made an effort of nailing that solo down to the smallest nuance.
Ever since I catch myself whistling or humming "When I'm 64" or Richie's f'n solo almost daily, like a tic.
For me the song that usually gets stuck in my head is the one I'm currently working on. CONSTANTLY thinking it through from beginning to end, thinking of fixes, tricks, etc.

Personally, I would prefer to have "Relax" Going through my head than anything by ELO!

Each to their own I guess. I actually really liked ELO even as a kid in the 70s.

That's probably not such a bad thing. The only time I find that becomes a problem is when you're writing something and the part you've just written is so entrenched in what you play that it is difficult to come up with something unique for other parts of the song.

He shamefully...SHAMEFULLY! spoke ill of ELO. (The nerve!) I felt a moral obligation to bring out the heavy weaponry ElO Time and the Prelude/Twilight/YT2095 three-fer are among my all time favorites in any genre.

Absolute musical masterpiece! A great cure for any lingering earworms!
