+ Media import: detect and use identical files in project path
I think this means files that are already in the session don't get duplicated with -imported suffix when you drag them in a second time.
is that right?

I need to mention the "copy selected media to project directory" in the project bay.
Is that covered by this update ? Will test when I am back in the studio.

Thanks devs. The media import option are going to be super useful!
Do they effect prox/subproject files too?
Also, would you consider adding the option (in preferences) that holding control and dragging from media explorer means we want to copy that file into project and not holding control means we want to only reference it.
That would be so fast and intuitive for media work.

I hope it won't mess up situations where you have 99.999% identical files in use?
For example, i'm mastering a track, and get the same track a second time, maybe with one single spike reduced. Filename, length (and theoretically even filesize?) might be exactly the same. I probably still want to keep the old version in my session for reference.
Reaper won't just use the new one in place of the old one, right? Or worse, overwrite the old one?
Excuse me if that's a stupid question, i just remember that version of Pro Tools (some years ago) which indeed managed to delete files used in projects...

If it did, I'd still call that user error. Just give it a different name.

it will only treat them as identical if they have the same name and contents (byte for byte identical)
