Default item graphic question

trying beta 12 x64. shouldn't the item wav graphic reflect things
like compression effects? it does for level. am i missing something?
admittedly, i'm a total reaper n00b.

and, as long as i'm displaying my ignorance, is there a way to type
a pan value into the track pan in the tcp? tried left and right
clicking with and without the usual modifiers but couldn't find it.

thanks,
BabaG

You can use the ReaConsole(key C) from SWS extension to type the value. You can set different parameters on tracks by first typing in the first letterof the parameter and the the value.
For example for volume cut for 12db you type v-12. Also a help tag displays hints whne you type a letter.

Hope this helps

It can display the level as it is as simple as using the
volume change ratio as a multiplyer for waveform height.

All the plug-ins are real time effects, calculated on the
fly, so if you want to view that data either put a real
time oscilloscope plug-in at the end of the track chain,
or record the track's output to a new wave file by
a) manually routing the output to another track and record in real time

b) using Apply FX function which creates a new take on top of the
original item (processed offline)

c) stem rendering tracks, which renders the original track from the
beginning of the project to the last item, than mutes the original

That's a good question...

This is too complicated. Bring on the right click.

It's faster than mousing around though.

I also find it faster. You just type the desired first letter of a parameter without the need to mouse around.

I think you mean the look of the WAV itself. If you do want to see what it looks like post effects you'll need to render the stem into a new track. There you can see what the post processed WAV looks like.
Reaper can't show how the WAV looks post effects because it is rendered in real time as previously mentioned.
Levelis a different story since it is easy to pre-calculate/scale what it looks like.
