GIGAWATT-The New Binary (streaming now!)
Through the persuasion of Kevin (kindafishy) I've uploaded the first track from my new album on ReverbNation for streaming only.
Wanna hear it? You gotta show my RN page same love baby!
So get to it!
www.reverbnation.com/gigawatt
Almost forgot to mention: Featuring Mr. Scott LePage on lead guitars.

LYRICS
Hail to the program
I'm feeling nauseous
I can't wake from dreaming
Merrily I row
Into the vortex
Gently the streaming
Of consciousness dying
Merrily I row
Beyond the concept
Of this illusion
I feel I'm falling
Can't escape the grasp of
Gravity's pull
Unto the surface
Descending upward
Into the dark cosmos
Merrily I row
Beyond the boundary
Of space, time, dimension
Love, hate, my dementia
Touch, taste, sound, subconscious
Mind, soul, sight, virtual
Hail to the program
And all his intentions
Merrily he rows
Through his conception
Twisting his expanse
Guarding the future
As he sees fit
Bending and shaping oblivions demise

Intro had me groovin' nicely and just when I was settling in, the main body came in and ripped me a new one. Perfectly done!
This goes way past typical djent as far as I'm concerned. Everything you do has that touch of something extra or something special to it. You have an natural, flowing, instantly intuitive melodic sense to your writing and playing. Putting that up against the hard, fast, precise riffing gives such a cool contrast. Throw in some infectious grooves here and there, fuggetaboutit.
Awesome dynamics despite being loud. Very nicely done there. The mix overall is great.
Sweet, flowing lead too. Is that you or Scott? Awesome fingers, either way. The groove in behind is such a cool backdrop for the stylish, dripping wet, spacey lead. Awesome.
I normally don't like fade outs, but I love this one because of the lone howling guitar that stays at a constant level while everything else fades out. Very cool use of time stretching.
This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Such attention to detail.

Awesome man... just plain awesome. If no one knew, you'd think Meshuggah came out with a new track and decided to branch off into some uncharted territory. Now I'm going to smash my gear and try harder on my next track. Balls.

I'm going to have to have my face surgically re-attached after listening to that. Very killer. The mix sounds awesome. Perfectly tight guitar/bass... awesome rubbery guitar tone. This is one of them songs that make a statement:
Your gonna like it whether you like it or not!

Seems like so many recording techniques going on there that I just don't have a clue about. Really, really good stuff. Incredibly tight. Yeah and I love that rubbery downtuned guitar thing too! I've got to find out how you get your levels so high without it bursting into flames....The dynamics are there. I've heard some of your stuff in the past and it's always good. Not neccesarily my type of music, but I can always appreciate a job well done. And it always is.
Read most of the thread and may have missed it. But would love to know the equipment, plugins....ect that you used on it. I think in the past you said you use freeware amp plugins for guitar. Could be wrong. Whatever it is you use, you know how to use it. J

Nothing really fancy going on in all honesty... a few folders and a few sends but thats about it.
My equipment? (prepare the floor for your jaw):
I'm using a 2007 Dell Dimension C521 with a single core AMD Athlon 64 2.0Ghz processor. Thats right... 2.0ghz. 2 GB ram.
My interface is a Line 6 Toneport GX using PODFarm 2.0 for guitars, bass and vocals.
Guitar is a Schecter Omen 8 string STOCK
Mic is an SM57.
Bass is an SX Ursa 5 string
Drums are EZDrummer+Metalheads EZX
I'm monitoring thru a couple of Sony bookshelf speakers out of a Sony home stereo unit.
Guitars are foldered with an eq on the buss
Bass is wet (distorted) and dry track mixed with eq and limiting on each individual track and the folder.
Drums are as such:
Dry kick
Snare has eq and a clipper on it and a reverb send
toms are eq and same reverb send as snare
Overheads and Hi-hats are eq'd
Then the whole thing (except the reverb send) is foldered with a compressor on the buss.
I also have the kick and snare running to another send with a compressor squashing the living hell outta them and thats mixed to taste.
vocals usually have mild distortion, chorus, delay, compression, etc.
Master bus is: G-clip>ReaEQ>FerricTDS>Tls_Maximizer
Aside from PODFarm and EZD everything else is freeware.
I generally stick to:
HG Fortune, Ugo, and Alchemy Player Free for synths.
BuzzroomFree compressors and Budde's Lightweight Compressor
W-1, G-Clip and Tls_Maximizer for limiter/clipping
Kjaerhus and Dblue Glitch for effects/delay
Everything else is ReaPlugs (eq, muliband comp, reverb, gate)
thats really all I use.
And thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Guess I should start getting into folders. You're really making great recordings period! J

I like it. Haven't listened to anything of this style in some time, but I thought the guitar, bass, drum tones were very pleasing. I know there is probably some better descriptor, but I thought they have a warm saturated sound, regardless of the massive amount of high harmonics.
