On Studio works :
30 - 40 ( > 50 including duplicates for fx processing ): Drums Bass guitars vocals etc

A drum kit takes around 8-10 separate tracks,
A sax 3 tracks, a guitar 2-3

If you have multiple recordings within one session very soon you end up with a track count around 40 . Multiple takes not counted as separate tracks....

On my own works :
8 - 30 : samples / loops and recorded synth / drumboxes / other keyboards , for certain songs more than 40 for extensive loop editing

I usually run between 60 - 150:

The only reason... which I haven't heard anyone mention yet is:

Track templates!!!

Almost all of my projects have a lot of multi-out routing for VSTS...

This means that if I have a Battery(16 out / 16 midi)Omnisphere(8 out / 8 midi) Kontakt(8 out / 8 midi) open I am already pushing ~60+ tracks

For my band's album that i'm currently working on :
(excluding folders, duplicates and fx tracks)

8 for drums
2 for guitars
2 for lead vocals
5 for back vocals
1 for bass
2 for "extras"
so 20.... but with folders/duplicates and fx... more like 30-35 tracks.
