Default Beach Boys Reunion Tour/New Album

(In case you missed it)

Is it really 50 years???

Lovely to see the lads alive and kickin' -- one of the all time
great groups.

Well, I hope their new album is good. They have toured so long on the same 60's hits that it has been quite boring...particularly without Brian!

That tune you posted sounds pretty good.

Default beach boys?

saw them live in '65....

Glen Campbell was the bass player,, it has been said; Brian was afraid to fly..........

glad that the name is still great & someone, don't know whom, is out there carrying on....

There is more than one Beach Boys band(under license)but this combination is the real McCoy -- all of the surviving original members: Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnson.

Dennis and Carl Wilson died in '83 and '98 respectively.

I saw them maybe 25 years ago. I can't remember if Brian was on stage... Probably not.

I remember thinking that THEY must be sick of playing the same old 60's songs night-after-night. But I wasn't bored! If I go to a Beach Boys concert, I go because I WANT to hear "Beach Boys songs" and I EXPECT to hear some "Beach Boys Songs!" If they play a bunch of new shtuff that I've never heard, THEN I'm going to be bored.

Default Mike Love never gets enough love for his lyrics

Brian wrote some great tunes...but the lyrics were intrumental in the overall greatness of "The Beach Boys".

Saw them in 69 and another 6 or 7 times. I was bored...too many times to hear the same set list.

Some of this new stuff is pretty impressive though...

Ted, I have been here since 2000. I don't think the Odyssey was still here when I came.

Are you from the area?

thanks for the off topic reply...

i've alway's been curious about what happened to Odyssey, after i left Columbia... we had such a great time.... the music was fabulous....

no, i'm from North Carolina,,, & best i know, the Odyessy Club was over by late 70's.

i played Odyessy, 6 nights a week, with owner & guitarist, Wayne Branham & drummer, Andy Hinson, ...i'm pretty sure it was, '72 & '73... a sit down job....

Odyessy was a great after hours club...& had a real down home like atmosphere... lots of same faces every week.... made many friends & my memories of Odyessy days are very pleasant

Columbia, in those days had many after hours clubs.....
& home to some really great musicians...

thanks,

Ted
