Default EZ Drummer Drag & Drop not working

I've done a search and it seems a few people have had issues with this. I'm using Win7 64 and reaper 64. The 32 bit version of EZ drummer allows drag and drop of midi files, but Toontack's new 64 bit beta version of EZ drummer apparently does not.
Does anyone have both Reaper 64 and EZ Drummer 64 working?

-Rich

PS: Reaper 64 and Superior Drummer 2 beta 64 seems to work well together.

I wasn't aware they had an EZD x64 beta. I'll grab it and try it this evening after work.

Report back later...

Default Toontrack - Used to be able to drag / drop midi

I used to be able to drag & drop my midi beats from Superior Drummer directly unto the track - now i get 'could not import 1 of 1 items'

Is this a preference I have changed somewhere?

thanks

Perhaps you can provide a little additional information.

When did this change for you? Did you change computers? Operating system? Reaper version? Did it just start happening randomly?

well do tell how many times you have posted with no response... I'm just curious

I can tell you that drag and drop of the midi files from both ezdrummer and superior work fine for me... reaper 32 bit on XP

where are you dragging them from?

It works as expected here (dragging grooves from SD's grooves tab into REAPER's arrange view) on Windows, running 32-bit SD and 32-bit REAPER.

Is it all grooves, or just specific ones?

thanks for replying

Using Reaper 4
Windows 7 64-bit - seems to be the cause, judging from your replies

I tried different kinds of grooves

Can I run Reaper 32 on W7?

You can definitely run 32-bit REAPER on 64-bit Windows 7.

Are you bridging or firewalling the plugin? That is, are you running the 32-bit version of the plugin within 64-bit REAPER, or have you set a specific VST firewall setting for this plugin (like "run as dedicated process")? In those cases, I wouldn't expect the MIDI clipboard paste to work.

If you are running x64 SD (I am not actually sure there is such a thing) in x64 REAPER, it may be that the x64 version of the plugin doesn't support MIDI clipboard.

I merged these threads since they are certainly the same issue.

I take it these re x64 beta versions of the plugins? If so, are they public?

Right-click the Reaper.exe and select 'run as administrator' usually does the trick when MIDI doesn't drag and drop properly.

Make sure in Addictive drums, you select tempo synch, before dragging into Reaper.

Default Ezdrummer 64 bit drag and drop

Scott Sibley aka “S Sibs” I want to thank you for posting your fix to this problem because you saved me. I did what you said and my problem was solved!!!

For others that may have the problem I was having - here was the situation.

I bought a new Laptop running Win7 - 64bits.

I downloaded Reaper - 64bits.

Purchased EZdrummer from Musiciansfriend.com. Ezdrummer arrived as the 32bit version.

I went to the Ezdrummer website and downloaded the files to convert from the 32bit version of Ezdrummer to the 64bit version. Here is the link. http://www.toontrack.com/index.asp

You need an Ezdrummer user account (free) and must login to download the conversion.

I downloaded the conversion files (Ezdrummer_WIN_130.zip).

Here is where I ran into my first problem. I’m new to computers and didn’t know the “Read Me” file – which was part of the downloaded files – had very important instructions for converting Ezdrummer from 32bit to 64bit. Basically, the “Read Me” instructs you to run 2 upgrades. You must first upgrade Ezdrummer to the latest 32bit version. Only AFTER you’ve upgraded to the latest 32bit version can you run the conversion from 32bit Ezdrummer to 64bit Ezdrummer.

Once I figured this out and ran the conversion - I then had to tell Reaper where to find the 64bit version. I’ll post details on how to do this if someone is in need.

Once Reaper found the 64bit version- I thought I was all set but, I wasn’t. At that point I was not able to drag and drop the midi grooves from Ezdrummer onto a Reaper track.

Thanks to Scott Sibley’s aka “S Sibs” post of running Reaper as an administrator - that problem was fixed. All is good at this point.

If someone needs help to run Reaper as an Administrator read “S Sibs” Post. I’d also be happy to post a little more detail.
